1 Corinthians 7:25-40
At the beginning of chapter 7, Paul states that he is addressing their statement, “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” For the first 16 verses, Paul dives into different relationships and seeks to advise on how the Corinthians ought to behave. He gives instructions to married couples, to singles, and spouses of unbelievers. In verses 17 through 24, Paul went on a related tangent. He mentions a rule that he had taught in all the churches. Each person should walk in the way the Lord has assigned them. Be content with where God has placed you. Make the most of your current situation. If conditions change, or in the case of bondservants, the opportunity arises to improve your situation you should, but regardless of your condition, remain there with God. In the rest of the chapter, Paul will return to relationships addressing the betrothed virgins and the widows of the church.
